Sad to say, You don’t need two vehicles to cause a dangerous accident. If there is a distracted or reckless driver behind the wheel, one vehicle is more than enough. Last Sunday a single-car crash killed one passenger and injured the other. Today the driver, Daniel Perkins, was arraigned in Jackson City Court, charged with vehicular homicide, aggravated assault with a vehicle, and reckless driving.
The man who was killed in the crash was Jarius Robinson, 22, of Jackson. His family remains in shock at the suddenness of his death. Their lives will never be the same, as the trauma of losing someone to a violent accident is very difficult to overcome. To make matters worse, they have to grapple with the fact that Jarius’ death was utterly preventable. If you or someone you love is every hurt by the negligent driving decisions of another motorist, always protect yourself and seek the help of an experienced lawyer. A Dallas personal injury attorney, like the offices of Regis Mullen and Shane Mullen can help anyone affected by a violent auto accident. The accident occurred just after midnight, Sunday morning, on U.S 45, north of Airways Boulevard. Perkins, who is 19 years-old, headed south in his 2007 Honda Accord at about 80 mph. It is unclear exactly how it happened, but Perkins lost control of the vehicle and crashed. He crossed both southbound lanes before going off the right side of the road, where he hit a manhole and a utility pole. Perkins and one of his passengers, 24 year-old Jeffery Gray, were treated at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Jarius was given CPR at the scene of the accident, but died later at the same hospital. I offer my condolences to Jarius’ family, and it is my sincerest hope that Gray makes a full recovery. I also hope that anyone in a similar situation does not hesitate to contact a good lawyer.
